The timing of this claim, and the suggestion that paying these unwarranted amounts can resolve things 'quickly and quietly,' sure seems like extortion, so we have turned all information on this issue over to the proper authorities."

"I feel as if America has become afraid of taking a stand," McGowen said. "The morning after our decision, I felt as if I had served in the way our founders expected. If I understand the math behind this correctly, America can't afford the $500,000 earmark."

"It looks like the lessons the rest of us have learned from 2009 have been lost entirely on President Obama and Democrats in Congress. 2009 saw our government add more than $2 trillion to our debt, put our energy and healthcare industries on the ropes, and centralize power and control in unelected bureaucrats accountable to no one. All of this was done while our economy foundered and millions of Americans lost their jobs."

Congress just expanded the ceiling in December and they have already spent their way past $12.4 trillion in debt. Maybe it takes a true small business owner, not a Washington insider, to see it -- this is an absurd way to run a government, and it has to end.

Several liberal Congressmen and Senators are in closed-door meetings at the White House, crafting secret deals to prepare for the last push into government-run health care. This legislation, which will have a profound impact on every single American for years to come, is being put together by a handful of big-government proponents, and they don't want us to know what they are doing.

Today, the Obama Administration announced, through the Czar who heads the Environmental Protection Agency, that they would move ahead with regulations to impose controls over naturally-occuring gases such as carbon dioxide, in an end-run around public disapproval and a legislative process designed to prevent this type of reckless behavior.

Yet as tough as the year has been, there are still many blessings in our lives, and we as Americans have great cause to give thanks.
