Curnock Campaign Releases Radio Ad Titled ‘Voting Record’

The Rob Curnock for Congress campaign today released a new radio ad highlighting the voting behavior of the two candidates in the April 13 Republican runoff for Congress.

While Curnock has voted in Central Texas for more than 20 years, his runoff opponent did not vote in the 2008 general election in District 17, and voted in the Democrat primary in 2008.

"For many years, I have consistently voted in support of strong conservative candidates in local, state and federal races," Curnock said. "I believe ..."

Rob Curnock Issues Statement on House Health Care Vote

Rob Curnock, Republican candidate for Congress in District 17, today issued the following statement on the House vote late last night to pass the Democrats' health care bill:

"I am deeply troubled by the action of Congress last night. Months ago I committed to repealing any health care takeover bill that passed Congress, and I remain firmly resolved to do that should the voters of District 17 give me that opportunity ..."

More Washington Games on Health Care

By now you have no doubt heard, Washington politics is alive and well, and Chet Edwards is a prime example.

This weekend, the U.S. House is moving toward a vote on the Democrats' $940,000,000,000 government takeover of our health care. This storm has been brewing for many months, and it appears that Congress may try to pass this bill without even taking an actual vote. Let's review how we have come to this point:

Why Voting ‘No’ on Obamacare Isn’t Enough

This week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has said there will be a vote on the Democrat national health care bill -- or at least there will be a vote on a rule that presumes the health care bill has passed, or some other parliamentary trick.

Our current congressman has said he will vote against the bill, which is wise given the outcry going back to July from citizens of District 17. All of our energy and work, letters and protests, town halls and telephone calls have combined to get one "no" vote.

It's nice, but it's not enough.

The Census as Wealth Redistribution

Every 10 years, the federal government must "enumerate" the numbers of the States, as directed in Article I Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution. To put it plainly, every 10 years the federal government conducts a Census to determine the population of the states and the United States as a whole.

2010 is a Census year, and many Americans are receiving a letter in the mail from the Census Bureau about the upcoming process. There are two major problems with this letter.

"I am grateful for the support and help of Timothy Delasandro as we approach the April 13 runoff election. I have come to know Timothy during the past few months of the campaign, and I appreciate his passionate and honest devotion to our Constitution and to conservative values."

Endorsing The Mount Vernon Constitutional Statement

More than a dozen leading conservative figures recently adopted a statement of constitutional conservative principles called the Mount Vernon Statement. This statement recommits conservatives to the core principles upon which our nation was founded.

As a common-sense conservative whose own personal values run deep, to the very heart of our Constitution, I am proud to endorse this statement and join this movement.

Rob Curnock Issues Statement on Former Campaign Worker

Rob Curnock, Republican candidate for Congress in District 17, today issued the following statement concerning a letter received from a former campaign worker:

"Our campaign has received a letter from a former campaign worker, from our 2008 campaign, demanding payment of money and threatening to approach the media during early voting in the primary election. The claim for payment of money is completely without merit. The timing of this claim, and the suggestion that paying these unwarranted amounts can resolve things 'quickly and quietly,' sure seems like extortion, so we have turned all information on this issue over to the proper authorities."

"I feel as if America has become afraid of taking a stand," McGowen said. "The morning after our decision, I felt as if I had served in the way our founders expected. If I understand the math behind this correctly, America can't afford the $500,000 earmark."

"It looks like the lessons the rest of us have learned from 2009 have been lost entirely on President Obama and Democrats in Congress. 2009 saw our government add more than $2 trillion to our debt, put our energy and healthcare industries on the ropes, and centralize power and control in unelected bureaucrats accountable to no one. All of this was done while our economy foundered and millions of Americans lost their jobs."

The So-Called Debt Ceiling

The Senate will vote this week on a measure to increase the federal debt ceiling by a whopping $1.9 trillion. After Democrats in Congress pass this resolution, the federal debt will be allowed to grow to more than $14.3 trillion.

Congress just expanded the ceiling in December and they have already spent their way past $12.4 trillion in debt. Maybe it takes a true small business owner, not a Washington insider, to see it -- this is an absurd way to run a government, and it has to end.

Business As Usual in Washington

Today, Washington is back to business as usual. Two meetings are taking place that seem to be unrelated, and yet they ultimately have the same problem at the core: government intrusion into the private sector.

Several liberal Congressmen and Senators are in closed-door meetings at the White House, crafting secret deals to prepare for the last push into government-run health care. This legislation, which will have a profound impact on every single American for years to come, is being put together by a handful of big-government proponents, and they don't want us to know what they are doing.
