Texas U.S. District 17 encompasses all or parts of 12 counties in Central Texas. It includes parts of Somervell, Limestone, Madison and Burleson counties and all of Hood, Johnson, Bosque, Hill, McLennan, Robertson, Brazos, and Grimes counties. The district  was reconfigured to its present size in 2002.

Starting in the northern part of the district are the cities of Burleson (pop. 21,000) and Cleburne (pop 26,000). Both are located in Johnson County. During the last decade Hood County, just to the west, along with Johnson County, have seen a strong influx of Republican voters who have moved into the district from the Ft. Worth area.

In the central part of the district is McLennan County with a population of approximately 214,000. Waco (pop 114,000), is the largest city in the County and District. It is the home of Baylor University and the birthplace of Dr Pepper.

To the south is Brazos County with a population of approximately 152,000. Bryan (pop 66,000), and College Station (pop 68,000) are twin cities. College Station is the home of Texas A&M University, one of the most conservative state schools in the country.

Most of the other counties are rural and include many farms, ranches and small businesses. These have been hurt the most by the irresponsible tax and spend policies of the current Congress.

In recent years, our Democrat Congressman has voted as often as 96% of the time with his liberal friends. He was a strong supporter of Barack Obama for President and supports House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s liberal agenda that is destroying our economy and preventing us from drilling off our coasts and in ANWR.

Since the Democrats took over Congress in 2007, their approval rating has dropped to an all time low. And now, with Barack Obama in the White House, our government is taking control of private industry with alarming speed. Every day we see what a liberal agenda can do to our economy and businesses.

Rob Curnock is a Waco businessman who knows how to balance a budget, create jobs, and work with others. He’s done it for 23-years and if we’re going to turn the economy around, we need someone with his kind of experience, not a career politician.

If you think we need to do things differently in Washington and that the current liberal Democratic agenda is hurting our economy and country, then let’s send a businessman, a true Conservative to Congress from District 17. Elect Rob Curnock for Congress.
