Rob Curnock Issues Statement on House Health Care Vote

Mar 22nd, 2010 | By ecampaign | Category: Health Care, News

Rob Curnock, Republican candidate for Congress in District 17, today issued the following statement on the House vote late last night to pass the Democrats’ health care bill:

“I am deeply troubled by the action of Congress last night. Months ago I committed to repealing any health care takeover bill that passed Congress, and I remain firmly resolved to do that should the voters of District 17 give me that opportunity …”

More Washington Games on Health Care

Mar 19th, 2010 | By ecampaign | Category: Health Care, News

By now you have no doubt heard, Washington politics is alive and well, and Chet Edwards is a prime example.

This weekend, the U.S. House is moving toward a vote on the Democrats’ $940,000,000,000 government takeover of our health care. This storm has been brewing for many months, and it appears that Congress may try to pass this bill without even taking an actual vote. Let’s review how we have come to this point:

Why Voting ‘No’ on Obamacare Isn’t Enough

Mar 15th, 2010 | By ecampaign | Category: Health Care, News

This week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has said there will be a vote on the Democrat national health care bill — or at least there will be a vote on a rule that presumes the health care bill has passed, or some other parliamentary trick.

Our current congressman has said he will vote against the bill, which is wise given the outcry going back to July from citizens of District 17. All of our energy and work, letters and protests, town halls and telephone calls have combined to get one “no” vote.

It’s nice, but it’s not enough.

Statement Regarding Edwards’ Vote on Health Care Bill

Nov 7th, 2009 | By ecampaign | Category: Health Care, News

Rob Curnock, Republican candidate for Congress in Texas District 17, today released the following statement regarding Rep. Edwards intent to vote against H.R. 3962:

“It’s remarkable that after 3 months of constant pressure from Central Texans, Chet Edwards finally announces his position on this major issue in the last hour as the bill comes to the floor. That’s not constituent representation; that’s counting votes behind closed doors with Nancy Pelosi to make sure the bill will pass.”

Central Texans Speak Out on Health Care Legislation

Oct 20th, 2009 | By ecampaign | Category: Health Care, News

Rob Curnock, Republican candidate for Congress in District 17, has delivered a report to Rep. Chet Edwards, Sen. John Cornyn and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, and all Texas Republican representatives, outlining feedback received from Central Texans during recent town hall meetings dealing with health care legislation.

“In August and September, the citizens of Central Texas spoke, and their message was clear: they do not want the federal government to interfere with their health care,” Curnock said. “I stand with them in opposition to H.R. 3200 and similar provisions being considered in the Senate, and I urge our elected representatives to stand with us in opposition.”

Joe Wilson: Impolite But Right

Sep 16th, 2009 | By ecampaign | Category: Health Care, News

Last week, President Obama addressed a joint session of Congress, a rare event for a president. Previous presidents have taken this extraordinary step in times of crisis for our country, such as Reagan at the height of the Cold War or George W. Bush following the attacks of 9/11.

Obama’s address was about his faltering health care proposals, and the speech was highly partisan, angry and divisive. Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina shouted “You lie!” when Obama claimed that HR 3200 would prevent illegal aliens from receiving insured care under the government-run option. And Wilson is right.

Wrapping Up Work on Health Care Feedback

Sep 1st, 2009 | By ecampaign | Category: Health Care, News

It’s been a great past few weeks, meeting with Central Texans from all over the district to hear your concerns about health care legislation and other issues with Washington politics. Frankly, most of what we heard from you echoes our own concerns and ideas about the current health care debate and related issues with governmental control over private lives.

Thanks you to everyone who came to a town hall meeting, forwarded an email, invited a friend to join us on Facebook, or helped in so many other ways.
