Rob Curnock, Republican candidate for Congress in District 17 and a 1981 Baylor graduate, today issued the following statement welcoming Judge Ken Starr as the 14th president of Baylor University:

“Baylor is near and dear to my heart, and I am excited that the board of regents has asked a national figure with Ken Starr’s stature to lead the university community. Judge Starr is well respected as an honest prosecutor, a principled scholar of the law, and a serious academic leader. He will bring tremendous presence to Baylor.

“Today’s announcement is a strong indication that Baylor will continue to be a key force in training leaders for Texas and our country who are grounded in Christian values and traditional Constitutional principles. That training was instrumental in helping me and so many other Baylor graduates discover a personal calling to service growing out of our national and religious heritage.”

More information about Baylor’s announcement is available on the Baylor web site.

Curnock broke ground in 2008 as the Republican candidate for Congress in District 17, running within a few percentage points of a long-time incumbent. The District 17 seat is now a top priority for the party in 2010, and the Curnock campaign is leading the way, with a grassroots campaign built on volunteers and a common-sense conservative message that resonates with Central Texans.
