Rob Curnock, Republican candidate for Congress in District 17, today issued the following statement following President Obama’s State of the Union address:

“It looks like the lessons the rest of us have learned from 2009 have been lost entirely on President Obama and Democrats in Congress. 2009 saw our government add more than $2 trillion to our debt, put our energy and healthcare industries on the ropes, and centralize power and control in unelected bureaucrats accountable to no one. All of this was done while our economy foundered and millions of Americans lost their jobs.

“Nothing President Obama said tonight holds any hope to change the trajectory he and Democrats in Congress have charted for our country.

“We’ve had enough of the ’smartest people in the room’ talking down to us, trying to tell us what’s best. Americans need common-sense conservative leaders who will stand up for our values and return our country to its Constitutional foundation. That’s what I stand for, and that’s the fight I will take to Washington in 2011.”
