Strong Conservative Support from Voters in Kosse
Jul 20th, 2009 | By ecampaign | Category: NewsTonight Rob was in Kosse, in Limestone County, to meet with to a dedicated group of conservative voters known as the Limestone County Conservatives. About 100 people packed the Kosse Community Center, extra tables were brought in and the tea just about ran out. It was a great night in District 17!
Rob shared his commitment to fighting in the face of adversity, demonstrated in 2008 when he took up the call to run when the state and national party both said the Democrat incumbent was unbeatable. That fight paid off, as the race came down to just a few percentage points, and now the seat is clearly in play. Rob is committed to finishing the fight and to winning in 2010.
Rob was in good company; the voters present were clearly upset with the direction Barack Obama and his Democrat friends in Congress are taking the country, and they weren’t afraid to speak up about it. One voter, who wrote a letter to the editor of the Groesbeck Journal, explained pretty well how the recent vote on Cap and Trade went down in Congress, how key Democrats were permitted to vote against it in an effort to save their seats only once the bill had the votes needed to pass.
“It was an insult to hardworking, tax-paying citizens who are worthy of honest representation,” the writer said, in reference to our current congressman’s vote on the bill.
Ken Waldrop from Concerned Citizens for the Constitution, also based in Limestone County, spoke and shared some of the same frustrations Rob hears all over the district: Central Texans are fed up with the things going on in Washington, such as appointment of more than 30 policy “Czars,” many of which have little or no basis in the Constitution.
Rob has traveled throughout the district since the 2008 election, speaking at Tea Parties, Republican Clubs and meetings like the one in Kosse, of conservative voters who are ready for real representation in Congress. At each meeting, support for Rob’s campaign is strong, and the discussion energizes our campaign.
It’s clear voters are ready for a congressman who understands our concerns and has worked alongside us to run a small business. And Rob Curnock is ready to stand with us and stand up for Central Texans as a champion for our values — less government, lower taxes, more personal freedom — in Washington.
